"Hardscrabble:" the small rock layer beneath the pavement that refers to the perseverance of the people.

Cocoon Theatre, of which I am co-founder with my wife Marguerite, has participated in this parade for the last four years and lastly we entered the float "Montgomery Place."

This

this float, moved from within, featured a  replica of the Montgomery Place house.

in the back, on a cloud or waterfall of white plastic, young Cocoon students performed choreographed sequences of movement to music by Zach seman and his BArd college student band.
