Drawingsclassical female figure

I drew the first figure at a moment when  I had experienced the loss of an opportunity I eagerly expected.

The  emotional state I was in could have easily produced a passionate, colorful, somewhat destructive, gesture-filled piece; instead,  this drawing happened.

It spoke to me of the mystery within us and how unexpectedly and independently of us it acts.

The second figure was inspired by the first. My interest in drawing was rekindled. Between the two I drew a Frederick Douglass portrait at the Tivoli street painting.

I highly recomend the reading of "The

Narrative of the Life of

Frederick Douglass, an American Slave".
